Background

I earned my doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Rutgers University and am a licensed psychologist practicing in Princeton, New Jersey. I work with individuals, couples, and families.

In addition to the basic credentials required for the practice of psychology, I have become a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, a Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academy of Psychology, a Registrant in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and the recipient of national and state Psychologist of the Year Awards from Psychologists in Independent Practice and from the New Jersey Psychological Association, as well as the recipient of the Distinguished Psychologist Award for lifetime contributions to psychotherapy from the Division of Psychotherapy of the American Psychological Association.

I am also a clinical supervisor for doctoral students at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University; a seasoned speaker for public and professional audiences; and the author and editor of numerous articles, chapters and seven books.

Over years of service in the American Psychological Association leadership, I have been the Treasurer of the association and a member of its Board of Directors, chaired the APA Task Force on Evidence Based Practice, the Policy and Planning Board, the Task Force on Health, and the Congressional Initiative on Serious Illness. In addition, I served as Senior Advisor to the Advisory Council on Genetics and am a past president of APA's largest division, Psychologists in Independent Practice.
